Our 11 VIP Kids Receiving Their Costumes:
The VIP Kids' Exceptional Wheelchair Costumes
So many costumes, so many smilesIt was so great to see the excitement on the kids' faces when their costume was revealed! Nothing compares to the joy and happiness they show when their wheelchair is transformed into something exceptional. From Race Cars to a Santa Sleigh, and from Fighter Jets to Moon Rovers, we covered all the bases. None of this could have happened without our amazing Build Teams of Volunteers. Returning high schools such as Olathe Northwest and Blue Valley CAPS, to new high schools joining us with Olathe East and Bishop Miege, they delighted the audience with their skills and ingenuity in creating this masterpieces. Returning robotics team, the Cobalt Colts astonished everyone with their Moon Rover assisted in CAD Design by the costume recipient, Davey.

The final costumes were built by volunteers who attended our September workshop at Hammerspace Makerspace, where we built multiple costumes in a single weekend. The Santa Sleigh, the Tesla Cybertruck, and the Top Gun Fighter Jet, were all built at this workshop.
Will Ferrell ImpersonatorThe infamous Will Ferrell Impersonator helped emcee the event again for us. Most of the time he was Ricky Bobby, but when he had to leave for a race, he later re-emerged for the Santa Sleigh reveal as non other than Buddy the Elf. Another fantastic event.

Rico Rico PhotographyRico Rico Photography took plenty of candid photos throughout the event. There were many behind the scenes photos, reactions on stage and much more (some are below). The pictures turned out fantastic and are so happy to share with everyone.
|
Family-Friendly CosplayersCosplayers were available for everyone to pose with them for pictures, and interact with them. We had the Just-Us League, the Midland Empire Ghostbusters and the Star Wars 501st. Who can forget when Gaston got on stage to try and convince everyone he was the hero of Beauty and the Beast?

Our Amazing Sponsors
As many of you know, all of the costumes we build, we give away. That's right, no family receiving one of our costumes pays one penny for the costume. That is accomplished by donations and corporate sponsorships to help cover the cost of materials.
A special thank you to CareSource for sponsoring Ryan's Cybertruck costume, and RT Specialty for sponsoring Lily's Top Gun: Maverick Fighter Jet costume! We would also like to thank Sparkcade for not only sponsoring this years Raffle, but for also providing all of the marketing for Walkin' & Rollin' Costumes this year, helping us reach our goal of $25,000, matching the $25,000 offered by an anonymous donor as a matching goal. We couldn't have made it without you. Thank you! |
