We are Here for You!
We never want anyone to feel overwhelmed when working on one of these wheelchair costumes. After all, it should be a fun and creative experience. We also know that this is new to most of you. So this "Resources" page is designed to help and assist you with lesson plans, 3D printed joints, 3D printed objects and even our exclusive Experienced Build Team, all here to help.
8-Week Schedule
Determining if you are on schedule to completing one of these wheelchair costumes is often difficult for first time builders. That's why we have created a rough 8-week schedule to use to help keep you on track. This is by no means the only way to do it, but we have found it works best to use as a guide the first time you build a costume.

Recommended Building Materials
Over the years, we have discovered what materials work best for the wheelchair costumes. Find your frame and skinning materials here.

Lights, Sounds and Electronics
When a costume calls for sounds, lights, and electronics, we have found some inexpensive routes to pull this off. These are typically for beginners with little to no knowledge about these items.

Our Experienced Build Team
As our organization grows and we have more and more volunteer teams building costumes around the nation, we knew we needed a group of individuals who can help serve as mentors. In 2022, we launched our Experienced Build Team. The team is made up of seasoned wheelchair costume builders who really help elevate the costume designs to a new level. They are here to assist with any questions you might have while building a wheelchair costume.

Lesson Plans
When teams first start out, they are often intimidated by where to start. That's why we have created a set of lesson plans for certain types of wheelchair costumes. None of these plans have measurements on them because it should all be adjusted to the size of the wheelchair you are building it for, but they include some great plans to get you started. Feel free to customize it based on your child's needs and costume details.

3D Printed Objects for Costumes
From steering wheels, and side mirrors, to jet engines and Mr. Fusions, here is a collection of 3D printer files we have created for some of our past wheelchair costumes that might be useful for upcoming costumes as well.

3D Printed Exclusive Joints
After building so many wheelchair costumes and using 3/4" PVC pipes for most of our frames, we've discovered that there are times when you need a joint that doesn't exist. That's when we break out CAD and design our own exclusive joints to help build these frames. Check out the joints we've designed and what we used them for.

Research & Development 3D Printed Exclusive Joints
We are always testing new joints, and new ways of connecting the costumes to the wheelchairs. This page is some of our Research and Development 3D Printed Joints that we are still testing. You are welcome to download any of them and test them yourselves. We just ask that you provide feedback on then when you are done so we can make any adjustments before we roll them out as final versions.
Cricut Designs
There are times where we have designed certain parts to be cut out of vinyl stickers on a Cricut machine. Here are some of the original works created by the W&RC team.
